NARRATIVE DESCRIPTION: The applicant's proposed project is located at 1524 Front Street, on Taylors Creek, in Beaufort, Carteret County, N.C. The proposed project is a 8' x 68' pier, a 16' x 41' deck, and a 8' x 3' finger pier. also included in the project is a 6' x 41' deck. Six (6) tie pilings are proposed in conjunction with the pier. A proposed 16' x 16' gazebo is to be located on the 16' x 41' deck which is also included in the application. In addition to the proposed pier, the applicant proposes to repair an existing 90' bulkhead. The repair will consist primarily of placing additional rock and a filter cloth landward of the existing riprap. A major permit is needed for this project due to its proximity to a federally maintained channel. 10. ANTICIPATED IMPACTS: The pier and docks will result in the covering of 1440 sq. ft. of public trust waters. The maximum distance the pier will extend waterward from the bulkhead is 681. The waters of Taylors Creek at the project site are designated "SC" by the Division of Environmental Management and are closed to shellfishing by the Division of Health Services. PREPARED BY: W. Blue-line prints or other larger plats are acceptable only if 16 high quality copies are provided by the applicant. Any violation of these terms may subject permittee to a fine, imprisonment or civil action; or may cause the permit to be null and void. (1) All work will be accomplished in strict accordance with the permit drawings. (2) No fill material will be placed at any time in any vegetated wetlands or waters of the state. (3) The activity will be conducted` in such a manner as to prevent significant increases in turbidity outside the area of construction or construction-related discharge. (4) The permittee will maintain the adthorized work in good condition and in conformance with the terms and conditions of this permit. The permittee is not relieved of this requirement if he abandons the project without having the permit transferred to a third party. (5) It is possible that the authorized structure may be damaged by wavewash from passing vessels. The issuance of this permit does not relieve the permittee from taking proper steps to ensure the integrity of the permitted (See attached sheet for Additional Condition This permit action may be appealed by the permittee or other qualified persons within twenty (20) days of the issuing date. An appeal requires resolution prior to work initiation or continuance, as the case may be, This permit must be accessible on-site to Department personnel when the project is inspected for compliance. Any maintenance work or project modification not covered hereunder requires further Departmental approval. The proposed project is a 8' x 68' pier, a 16' x 41' deck, and a 8' x 3' finger pier. also included in the project is a 6' x 41' deck. Six (6) tie pilings are proposed in conjunction with the pier. A proposed 16' x 16' gazebo is to be located on the 16' x 41' deck which is also included in the application. In addition to the proposed pier, the applicant proposes to repair an existing 90' bulkhead. The repair will consist primarily of placing additional rock and a filter cloth landward of the existing riprap. A major permit is needed for this project due to its proximity to a federally maintained channel. 10.
