Project r-simmnry The applicants propose to construct a bulkhead on lots 7 and 8 in Old Nags Head Cove on the Roanoke Sound. JOHN WARD AND PAT DELANY BID REPORT PAGE 2 PROJECT DESCRIPTION FAST TRACK The applicants own two undeveloped residential lots on the Roanoke Sound at Old Nags Head Cove. The lots slope from Roanoke Way towards the sound where the sandy shoreline doanot support any emergent or submerged vegetation. The adjacent property to the south is bulkhead and the lot to the north is bulkhead across most of the lot but does not extend to the property line. The applicants are requesting authorization to construct a bulkhead which would tie into the existing bulkhead on the south side. The bulkhead will run north 120 feet and will average 2 feet from the NWL. This project could be eligible for a general permit, however, the applicants could not obtain the required sign offs from the adjacent riparian property owners. The purpose of the proposed project is to prepare the sites for future residential construction, though this request does not contain that specific information. ANTICIPATED IMPACTS The bulkhead construction will result in some short term elevated turbidity levels but they will be localized. The backfilling will result in the filling of 240 square feet of shallow water habitat. CAMA REVIEW The project site is classified as transition in the Nags Head LUP. The proposal is consistent with that plan. Submitted by: George H.
