This permit, issued on W0113 ? , is subject to compliance with the application (where consistent
with the permit), all applicable regulations, special conditions and notes set forth below. Any violation of these terms may subject
permittee to a fine, imprisonment or civil action; or may cause the permit to be null and void.
(1) The proposed bulkhead will not exceed an alignment of 2' waterward of the
existing bulkhead.
(2) All backfill must be obtained from a high ground source and confined behind
the permitted bulkhead.
(3) All fill material to be placed below NWL will be confined behind the permitted
bulkhead.
(4) The activity will be conducted in such a manner as to prevent significant
increases in turbidity outside the area of construction or construction-related
discharge.
MOTE: Future development on the permittee's property may require a modification
of this permit. Contact a representative of the Division of Coastal
Management at [phone] or Mr. Aubrey Heath, Dare County LPO at
[phone] for this determination prior to commencement of any such
activity. .
This permit action may be appealed by the permittee
or other qualified persons within twenty (20) days of the
issuing date. An appeal requires resolution prior to work
initiation or continuance, as the case may be.
This permit must be accessible on-site to Department
personnel when the project is inspected for compliance.
Any maintenance work or project modification
not covered hereunder requires further Departmental
approval.
All work must cease when the permit expires on

agrees that your project is consistent with the North
Carolina Coastal Management Program.

Colington Harbour on Lot 31 and 32, Section M on Tartan Inlet.

SITE DESCRIPTION
The applicant's property is located in Dare County in Colington Harbour
Subdivision, Lot #31 and 32, Section M on Soundview Drive on Tartan Inlet.
The lot is currently undeveloped and is vegetated with lawn grasses. The
existing asbestos bulkhead is deteriorated and has two eroded pockets, one
being 13' X 40' and the other 8' X 20'.
The applicant proposes to construct a wooden bulkhead approximately 2' out from
the old deteriorated asbestos bulkhead. This will result in the filling of the
two eroded pockets, which are devoid of wetland vegetation. The bulkhead will be
approximately 157' in length, and an average of 5.8' waterward of NWL.
ANTICIPATED IMPACTS
The project as proposed will result in the filling of 910 square feet of canal
bottom, resulting in 101 cubic yards of fill, with 16 of these being below NWL.
The proposed project will result in increased levels of turbidity, however, these
will be short termed and localized.
