Project Summary The applicants propose to construct a pier in order to p rovide access for the community. Applicant's name Ludlum, Roach, Rountree Location of project site At the end of Ocean View Drive, Off Seashore Road, SuDDIV. Brunswick Countv, New Photo 10-83, Grid 8-0 Ludlum, Roach, Rountree Page 2 9. PROJECT DESCRIPTION The project site is located at the south end of Ocean View Drive within the Waterway Acres Subdivision along the AIWW, Supply, North Carolina. The site can be reached by SR 17 South to SR 130 toward Holden Beach, then right on Seashore Road (SR 1139) and left onto Ocean View Drive. The project site consist of an easement measuring approximately 20' x 30' which is owned by the developer. There is a large expanse of mixed marsh bordering the shoreline and extending waterward approximately 250 feet. Species within the border include black needlerush Juncus roemerianus) giant cordgrass (Spartina cynosuroides), and smooth cordgrass S artina alterniflora) waterward of this marsh is an embayment separated from the AIWW by shoals and Spartina alterniflora. According to Marine Fisheries, the area is classified as SA waters, secondary nursery, and are open to the taking of shellfish. The applicant propose to construct a pier that would serve the community. The basic dimensions of the structure are 350' long x 6' wide with a platform at the waterward end of the pier measuring approximately 12' x 16'. This pier length would be less than the adjoining pier on the west. 10. ANTICIPATED IMPACTS The length of the pier will not exceed the one-third rule of the body of water, and will be consistent with the Corps of Engineers requirement of being not closer than 85 feet from the channel. This length is necessary in order to provide a reasonable water depth for navigation. Submitted by: Marc Botbol Office : Wilmington Date : October 1, 1987 Please type or print.
