NARRATIVE DESCRIPTION: The applicant's project is located at Ketch Court on Hog Pen Creek off Green's Creek in Sail Loft Subdivision about one (1) mile west of the oriental high-rise bridge in Pamlico County. The proposed project is at a single family home and consists of the addition of a 10' finger pier and three (3) tie pilings. Existing structures along the shoreline include a bulkhead and a 165' x 6' dock parallel to the bank. There is also an existing 22' x 5' finger pier and a 24' x 15' finger pier and boat house. The permit application is required [7K .0203(c)(4)] because the applicant currently has the capability to tie up four (4) boats at his property. The applicant wishes to obtain the additional finger pier and pilings to allow guests to utilize the new dock spaces. These additional "slips" will allow the docking of more than four (4) boats and thus the application must be reviewed through the major permit process. 10. ANTICIPATED IMPACTS: The proposed project is on Hog Pen Creek which is classified as "SA" by the Division of Environmental Management, categorized as closed to shellfishing by the Division of Health Services, and designated as a permanent secondary nursery area by the Division of Marine Fisheries. Approximately 20 sq. ft. of open water will be occupied by additional docks. The overall anticipated impact of the proposed project is minimal. The slips located at this site will be used . primarily by guests on the weekends. The project will not be operated as a marina, nor will the slips be available for rental.
