Dear Mr. Garvey:

E)EHNIt,
Subject: Rescission of Permit No. WQ0011061
Boren Clay Products -PG Washpad
Guilford County
Recycle System Permit
Reference is made toward rescission of the subject Recycle System Permit. Staff of
our Winston-Salem Regional Office have conf=' ed that this recycling facility was never
constructed and this NonDischarge Permit is no longer required. Permit No. WQ0011061
is therefore rescinded and will be removed from our computer systems, effective
immediately.
If in the future you wish to again operate a nondischarge wastewater treatment
system, you must first apply for and receive a new State Permit. Operating without a
valid State Permit will subject the facility to a civil penalty of up to $10,000 per day.
If it would be helpful to discuss this matter further, I would suggest that you contact
Steve Mauney, Water Quality Regional Supervisor, Winston-Salem Regional Office at
9101896-7007.
Sincerely,
fr
A. Preston Howard, Jr., P.E.

The company has not built this recycling facility and
intends to cancel this permit at the Pleasant Garden location.
The company plans to collect the steam cleaning/rinse water and
place the water on haul roads. The Region has been made aware
that the brick making association may be provided with a general
permit which will cover stormwater issues. The only reservation
that the Region has is a concern that used motor oils and other
automotive products may be exposed and possibly be released.
Since the company and the Division have discussed the above
options, the Region agrees that the Permit can be voided as
requested by Boren Clay. The company is still required to apply
for and provide requirements for an NPDES Permit for the
unpermitted discharge of the existing sandfilter.
