The Permits and Engineering Unit has reviewed your letter on August 14, 1996, which
was sent to Mr. Ed Beck of Wilmington Regional Office on April 28, 1996. You requested a
permit modification stating the washing facility original permit application should have requested
1,500 GPD, but requested 150 GPD instead. This is based on 250 gallons per unit, washed times
six washings per day.
The specifications submitted with the application indicated that the equipment has the
capability of operating from 1 to 12 GPM. It therefore appears that the equipment can function at
the requested flow rate. This process normal would require a fee to modify the permit, but the fee
is being waved because of the length of time elapsed since the request. When the original permit
was issued on April 15, 1994, an engineer certification form was attached, requesting verification
that project had been installed in accordance with the approved plans and specifications. As of
today we have not received the engineers certification for the subject facility.
The permit modification can be approved once the engineers' certification is received. The
engineers certification should state the system is capable of operating at a flow of 1,500 GPD.
