This is in response to your letter of May 14, 1997, (copy enclosed). According to your letter, you
do not wish to renew the subject wastewater permit because you plan to apply to the Clay County Health
Department for a subsurface disposal system.
Please be informed, if the subject permit expires before the subsurface disposal system is in place,
operation of the lagoon infiltration system without a valid permit would be a violation of Sate Statute 143-
215.1, and would subject you to an enforcement action. As your permit will expire on January 31, 1998,
it is advisable to renew the subject lagoon infiltration permit until you have received a permit from the Clay
County Health Department, and constructed the replacement subsurface disposal facilities. Please contact
the Clay County Health Department regarding the typical permit review period for subsurface disposal
facilities that serve your type of operation.
Once the Clay County permitted facilities are in place, you will need to make a written request that
the subject lagoon infiltration system permit be rescinded.
If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact Mr. John Seymour
telephone number (919) 733-5083 extension 546.
