Carteret County & Pamlico County
Reference is made toward the rescission of the subject State NonDischarge Permits.
Staff of DEM have confirmed these as Industrial Pump & Haul Permits for which these
NonDischarge Permits are no longer required. Therefore, State Permit No. WQ0006798
& State Permit No. WQ0006799 are rescinded, effective immediately.
If in the future you wish to again operate under a Pump & Haul type treatment
system, you must first apply for and receive a new State Permit. Operating without a
valid State Permit will subject the facility to a civil penalty of up to $10,000 per day.

On May 10, 1993, the Division of Environmental Management issued Permit Nos. WQ0006798
and WQ0006799 to the Coastal Regional Solid Waste Management Authority (CRSWMA) for
the pump and haul of wash down water from the Pamlico and Carteret County Transfer Stations
to the Town of Newport POTW.
As you know, difficulties were encountered at the Newport POTW and CRSWMA has delivered
no wash down water to that facility. During April 1995, the Town of Newport requested to be
released from its agreement with CRSWN A to accept wash down water. The CRSWMA Board
agreed to release Newport from the agreement.
CRSWMA delivered the wash down water for disposal to Cherokee Environmental Group,
Sanford, North Carolina through August 1995, and currently delivers it to Shamrock
Environmental Corporation, Greensboro, North Carolina.
In light of these events, CRSWMA requests the DEM void Permit Nos. WQ0006798 and
WQ0006799 and that CRS`N.M A not be charged the annual permit maintenance fee from this
point forward.
