The Division of Environmental Management's Permits and Engineering Unit and Groundwater
Section have completed a preliminary engineering review of the subject application.
The following items must be addressed before we can complete our review:

1) Please demonstrate that the system will operate as a closed-loop system, including
capturing the entire plume.
2) PIease specify the depth of the Winstead residences well.
3) Please specify the impermeability of the confining layer

1) The application states that the loading rate to the infiltration gallery will be 0.20
GPD/ft2, however in the submittal package it states that approximatiey 2,460 square
feet will be utilized. This generates a loading rate of approximatley 5.85 GPD/ft2,
whereas the soil scientists recommendation is 0.6 GPD/ft2. Please clarify with
supporting calculations.
Refer to the subject permit application number when providing the requested information. Please
submit four copies of all requested information to my attention at dress elow.
Also, please note that failure to provide this additional information on or befor ecemb r 18 1 will
subject your application to being returned as incomplete, in accordance with 15A NCAC 2H .0208
