Cable Transport Catawba Facility
Subsurface Disposal Facility
Catawba County
The Permits and Engineering Unit received the renewal request for the subject permit on
August 27, 1990. On October 3, 1990 the Mooresville Regional Office notified the Permits and
gpgineering Unit that the facility was washing more vehicles than the wastewater treatment facility
WAS originally designed and permitted for. Therefore, additional information is needed to deter -line
If the facility is adequately designed for the increased volume of wastewater.
Please provide the following additional information:
1) Provide a completed Non -Discharge application for the increased wastewater
volume, ,
2) Provide an estimate of the volume of wastewater now being generated at this
facility. Provide the method used to determine the volume of wastewater such as
water use records or flow meter readings at the facility.
3) Provide a site-specific map, with topographic contours (contour interval should
not exceed 10 feet or 25% of the total site relief, whichever is less), showing all
facility -related structures within the property boundary and the location of all
wells, springs, lakes, ponds, or other drainage features within 500 feet of the
waste treatment/disposal site(s). Wells should be labeled as to their primary
usage (drinking water, irrigation, monitoring, etc.).
4) Provide a soil scien ti st/hydro geological report of the disposal site. This report
should include a description of the soils to a depth of 20 feet or bedrock, which
ever is less. The description should include field descriptions of each soil
horizon, texture, structure, seasonal high water table and normal water table
depths, and a loading rate. The hydrogeological information should include
information on the vertical permeability of the soils and any changes in soil
horizons, and an estimate of thee hydraulic conductivity of the saturated zone.

The Mooresville Regional Office reported that Comm/Scope was in the process of
constructing a wash water recycle system to replace the subsurface disposal system. Has this recycle
system been permited by the Division? Will the subsurface system still be needed once the recycle
system has come online?
Refer to the subject permit application number when providing the requested information.
Also, please now that failure to provide this additional information on or before December 15, 1990
will.subject your application to being returned as incomplete in accordance with 15 NCAC 2H
.0208.
