Box 170 Advance, NC 27006 SUBJECT: Permit No. WQ760 PPG Industries; Inc. Davidson County Dear Grace: We have reviewed the additional information you submitted on May 9, 1989 concerning existing monitor wells the subject facility. It does -not appear that any of the five (5) existing wells are downgradient df proposed land application sites. Wells W--2 and W-3 appear to be on the .opposite side of an intermittent stream (a drainage divide) from field No. 2. Based on topography, these wells would not be downgradient of field No. 2. We note that the well completion records provided are for monitor wells MW -1, 2 and 3 which were installed to collect groundwater quality and hydrogeologic data in the area of a former underground fuel oil tank. These wells do not appear to be downgradient of the land application sites. It is our opinion that the current monitoring requirements (i.e. Conditions 33 & 34) in Permit No. WQ0000760 are appropriate. Pollution Prevention Pats PO.
