Reeder Governor Director 1. fie...+ January 31, 2014 MR. ERIC WEATHERLY — COUNTY ENGINEER COUNTY OF CURRITUCK 153 COURTHOUSE ROAD, SUITE 302 CURRITUCK, NORTH CAROLINA 27929 Dear Mr. Weatherly: John E. Skvarla, III Secretary Subject: Permit No. WQ0000185 Ocean Sands WWTF Modification High -Rate Infiltration System Currituck County In accordance with your permit minor modification request received December 5, 2013 we are forwarding herewith Permit No. WQ0000185 dated January 31, 2014, to the County of Currituck for the construction and continued operation of the subject wastewater treatment and high -rate infiltration facilities. This permit has been modified to allow for renovations to the infiltration area including the demolition of the existing spray field components, regrading, and installation of new forcemains, manifolds, risers, and spray heads, and replacement of existing dosing pumps with new, larger submersible pumps. The modification results in a reduction in the effective hydraulic loading to the site (from 7.65 GPD/SF to 5.72 GPD/SF) due to the additional spray heads in areas previously not irrigated within the existing spray field footprint. Attachment B has been modified to reflect operation of the spray field as one zone of 2.41 acres instead of the previous ten 0.18 ac zones. The maximum allowable loading rate remains at 7.65 GPD/SF. Also note Condition I.1, requiring abandonment of MW -8, P1, P2, and P3 (as per the previous permit version), must be completed no later than April 1, 2014. This permit shall be effective from January 31, 2014 until January 31, 2019, shall void Permit No. WQ0000185 issued August 30, 2013, and shall be subject to the conditions and limitations as specified therein. Please pay particular attention to the monitoring requirements listed in Attachments A, B and C. Failure to establish an adequate system for collecting and maintaining the required operational information shall result in future compliance problems.
