B. Description of Need and Purpose:
The project purpose is to replace a deteriorating and/or obsolete bridge on a secondary
road.

• NCDOT Construction — Tree clearing will be conducted in "winter only" from October
15t" to April 15t" to avoid potential disturbance of roosting Indiana Bats.
• NCDOT Construction — Project will follow USACE NWP 14 permit and NCDWR 401
certification.
• NCDOT Construction — Project will comply the standard 2017 NWP 14 conditions,
NCDWR 2017 GC 4135 and the N.C. Wildlife Resource Conditions
• NCDOT Construction — Orange Safety Fence will be used to isolate construction from
environmental & culturally sensitive areas near bridge.
• NCDOT Construction — Project will adhere to NCDOT Best Manaqement Practices for
Construction and Maintenance Activities. Erosion control and maintenance will be
particularly important since the project crosses (Class B, Tr.) North Fork Coweeta
Creek.
