Nutrien Fish Guild Desianations.xlsx
Shane and Twyla,
Sorry for the delay as I meant to also send you the updated fish guilds mentioned at the 2018
Science Panel Meeting when I sent the trawl bias memo below. I have attached the fish guild
designations that were used in the 2017 Nutrien Report and highlighted the guilds that were
changed from both the 2015 and 2016 reports. The guilds used in the 2015/2016 reports were
designated using Fish Base based on juveniles and I think that is where the discrepancies noted by
Ken Riley at the 2017 Science Panel Meeting came from since most of our fish captured by
trawl/fyke nets are YOY. I went back through the fish guilds after the 2017 Science Panel Meeting
and made changes as suggested by Ken Riley. The changes made are highlighted in yellow and after
some back and forth, the striped bass remain classified as piscivores due their size ranges per an
email from Ken Riley on 13 December 2017. Upon concurrence of the striped bass, all trophic guilds
were reviewed and approved by Ken Riley, Fritz Rohde, and Jason Rock. Please call me if you would
like to discuss or have any questions and/or concerns.
Hope you all fared well through Florence!!
Thanks,
Randy

Subject: Trawl Bias Memo
Shane and Twyla,
I have attached a trawl bias memo that was distributed this past February because I was not sure if
either of you had a copy when we reviewed the findings at the Science Panel meeting last week on
Wednesday, 29 August 2018. Please call me if you would like to discuss or have any questions
and/or concerns.
Thanks,
Randy
