An impervious dike will be constructed adjacenti to the proposed impact area to isolate the work zone. Any dirty water located inside the construction area will be pumped into a silt bag if necessary. Once the new bank stabilization is in place, the imperviaus dikes will be removed and preconstruction streambed elevatians will be restored. Constru.ctian of this project will require impacts ta wa#ers af the United States in the New River Sasin. The existing bridge crosses Potato Creek (Class: C; Trout} and is located in a trout watersbed. This project does not drain to designated critical habitat. This project was reviewed for the presence of threatened and endangered species in the field and I have also included a query of the NCNHP database. Based on the project area mapped with my request, the data.base sea.rch indicates that there are no records for threatened or endangered species, impartant naturt'al eommunities, natural areas, or conservation/nczanaged areas vvthin the proposed project boundary. There will be approximately 0.07 acres of tree cutting at the project location due ta cut and fi1I work. The NLEB is listed as a protected species in this county but the project does not fall within one af the HUCs identified in the SLOPES spelled out in the Nationwide Permit Regional Conditzons. We do not anticipate any impact to any ather federally listed species. Cultural resource compliance work has been completed. No archaeological resources or historic properties will be affected by this prajeet see attached). The praject inpacts are not significant in natu'e and should noi remove or degrade existing water quality uses. Starmwatex will be routed through grass or xock iined ditches, dspending on the ditch line slope. Pipe sizes used will be the minimum necessary to create a safe roadway. By utiizing the erosion contral measures outined in the attachments to this appiieation, downstream water quality standards will be protected. All appropria#e BMPs will be used during construction. By copy of this electronic letter, it is requested that Mrs. Marla Chambers with the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission camment directly to you concerning the 404 Natianwide Pertnit application with a copy sent ta me. By copy of this electranic letter, it is requested that the Division of Water ResQurces, 401/Wetlands Unit, issue the appropriate permit for construction of this project.
