RE: Application for Coverage under NPDES General Permit NCG080000
Carolina Sunrock — Butner Maintenance Facility
Sunrock Drive, Butner, North Carolina
Two Whom it May Concern:
Enclosed is the Notice of Intent (NOI) application, with supporting information, for coverage under NPDES General
Permit NCG080000 for the Carolina Sunrock facility referenced above, in Butner, Granville County, North
Carolina. The facility has been vacant for several years and will be used by Carolina Sunrock as a centralized
maintenance facility for various company fleet vehicles and heavy -machinery which are used at Carolina Sunrock's
quarrying and asphalt/concrete-production operations throughout central North Carolina. The facility consists of a
pre-existing building and overhead crane system, the latter of which will be used for lifting truck beds and other
large/heavy vehicle and equipment parts.
A fully -enclosed building, with secondary containment structures, will be constructed along the southern side of the
existing building, and will be used to store various oils, hydraulic fluids, and other vehicle maintenance -related
fluids. Carolina Sunrock also plans to potentially construct a vehicle -washing station (which will contain an
oil/water separator) and a vehicle -fueling station (with an associated diesel fuel aboveground storage tank and
secondary containment structures) at a future date, so those potential structures have been included on the attached
site figures as well.
Carolina Sunrock plans to begin operations at the facility by around late -2018 or early -2019. One check, in the
amount of $100.00, for the application processing fees is also enclosed. Piedmont Geologic is managing the
application process on behalf of Carolina Sunrock.
If you have any questions or need any additional information, please do not hesitate to call.
Sincerely,
Janazhav D. Marphye
