Bond Park is a metro park with a lake that offers fishing and boating with non -motorized craft. Rental vessels
include paddleboats and canoes. epsting docks, paved walkways and boardwalks are located at the site. The site
is heavily used by citizens, either on their own or through organized programs.

The purpose of the project is to upgrade the existing park facilities to make more areas ADA compliant, including
constructing a kayak/canoe launch ramp with an ADA -compliant trail from the parking lot to the ramp. The project
also includes adding additional boardwalk along the waters edge to provide connectivity between various
beachfront areas.
4g. Describe the overall project in detail, including indirect impacts and the type of equipment to be used:
An ADA -compliance paved trail will be constructed from the parking area to the ramp. 3) Additional boardwalks will
be installed along/over the waters edge to provide connectivity along the lakefront for pedestrians. Additional
tasks include removal of several old boat racks, removal of some ebsting paved walkways, and fencing out some
areas of buffer from pedestrian traffic to allow them to rehabilitate. Equipment will include typical construction
equipment.

It should be noted that impervious surface (existing sidewalk) is being removed in several locations, totaling 357
SF of Zone 1 and 16 SF of Zone 2, for a net impervious project impact of 528 SF of Zone 1, and 237 SF of Zone
2. In addition, the re-routing of pedestrian travel and boat storage racks will result in 'rehabilitation" of compacted
barren buffer (1142 SF of Zone 1 and 322 SF Zone 2). These rehabilitated areas will be fenced with split rail
fencing, mulched and where possible, vegetation will be established. While the boat rack at the upper end of the
launch ramp is being added, a total of 641 SF of boat storage is being removed from the buffer.

Since the project is associated with water -dependent structures and targets improvements to the beachfront,
impacts to open water and buffer are essential to the success of the project. Where possible, pervious structures
(kayak launch map, wood -slatted boardwalk) will be used to minimize new impervious on the project site.
Impervious space will be removed as part of this project, multiple semi-permanent boat storage racks were
removed from the buffer, and areas of buffer are being 'reclaimed"
1b. Specifically describe measures taken to avoid or minimize the proposed impacts through construction techniques:*
Plans are for the work to be done when Wake County lowers the water level in November to work on the riser
structure. All work will be done in the dry.
