We have had a couple of problems with the UV system:
1. The control panel was showing "not enough Trains Available". Staff has closed one side
to keep from both trains shutting down since the alarms are linked to both trains. This is
working right now, we are working with Trojan to see what can be done -in the control
panel.
2. The Ammonia has been creeping up with the warmer weather, staff has been running the
blowers more to get the ammonia back in control. This has helped the Ammonia, it is
back in control.
3. The Phosphorus was elevated for a couple of weeks, we have increased the Alum feed
and adjusted the wasting rate to bring the Phosphorus back down.
Mark Young has been working with Tom Tharrington and yourself to help make the Plant
operate better, we appreciate all the help from your Department. We will continue to work on
the operations of the Plant and -try to improve some for the problems with the equipment.
Thank You,
Edward Car

Eddie — Based on the emails and reports from May; it appears the violations were from UV
system problems and seasonal changes/ adjustments being made to the SBRs.

Northwest had some violations this week for Ammonia and Fecal. The results are listed below.
The fecal samples were up and down this week. We made some changes to the UV control and
cleaned side one reactor. Considering that the "Not enough Trains Available" alarm is still an
issue, we have closed one side to keep from both trains shutting down since the alarm is linked to
both trains. So far it seems to be working ok.
The ammonia has been creeping up over the past couple of weeks. We began running additional
blowers when we noticed it coming up but the ammonia elevated faster than our changes. In
addition the SBR aeration times were adjusted to a more appropriate warm weather setting (More
air, less blower off time). With this combination of adjustments the ammonia is back compliant.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Have a good weekend.

NWR Plant has a fecal violation this week of 1550 col/ 100 m/L. Subsequent samples were
collected and all of them were <1.0 col/ 100 m/L. We have had a few more issues with the
wiping system on the UV but it seems to be repaired now. Also phosphorus levels have been
elevated for a couple of weeks now in the 4 - 5 ppm range. We have increased the alum feed and
adjusted wasting rates to help bring this down.
