THE CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY EXISTING ELEVATIONS AND DIMENSIONS WHERE NEW WORK WILL MATCH EXISTING. DISCREPANCIES SHALL BE BROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION OF THE ENGINEER FOR RESOLUTION PRIOR TO THE COMMENCEMENT OF CONSTRUCTION. 4.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL OBTAIN ALL NECESSARY PERMITS FROM THE APPROPRIATE AUTHORITIES, DEPARTMENTS, AND / OR AGENCIES HAVING JURISDICTION PRIOR TO THE COMMENCEMENT OF CONSTRUCTION. 5.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL TAKE CARE TO AVOID DAMAGE TO EXISTING PAVEMENT, TREES, VEGETATION, STRUCTURES, UTILITIES, ETC NOT INDICATED TO BE DEMOLISHED OR REMOVED. DAMAGE TO FEATURES NOT INDICATED TO BE DEMOLISHED OR REMOVED, WHETHER WITHIN OR OUTSIDE THE LIMIT OF DISTURBANCE, SHALL BE REPAIRED AT THE CONTRACTOR'S EXPENSE. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE PRE- AND POST-CONSTRUCTION PHOTOGRAPHS OF ALL DISTURBED AREAS. 6.UTILITIES HAVE BEEN PLOTTED FROM AVAILABLE SURVEY INFORMATION. IT IS THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO VERIFY THEIR EXACT LOCATION AND AVOID DAMAGE TO THEM. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CONTACT NORTH CAROLINA 811 AT PHONE NUMBER 811 OR 1-800-632-4949, OR BY REMOTE TICKET ENTRY, TO REQUEST UNDERGROUND UTILITY LOCATION MARK-OUT AT LEAST THREE (3) WORKING DAYS BUT NO MORE THAN TWELVE (12) WORKING DAYS PRIOR TO EXCAVATION, INCLUDING SOIL DRILLING. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL ALSO CONTACT AND REQUEST UTILITY LOCATION MARK-OUT FROM BURIED UTILITY OWNERS FOR UTILITIES ON THE PROJECT SITE THAT ARE NOT PARTICIPANTS OF NORTH CAROLINA 811. 7.WHERE PROPOSED WORK IS IN THE VICINITY OF UTILITY POLES, SUCH THAT SUPPORT OF THE POLE(S) WILL BE REQUIRED, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR NOTIFYING THE UTILITY, PUBLIC OR PRIVATE, OF THE WORK. THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR COORDINATING WITH THE UTILITY FOR SUPPORT AND / OR RELOCATION. 8.WHERE OVERHEAD POWER LINES ARE PRESENT, THE CONTRACTOR MUST CONTACT THE UTILITY PRIOR TO THE COMMENCEMENT OF CONSTRUCTION TO DETERMINE THE MINIMUM REQUIRED EQUIPMENT CLEARANCE (MEC) DISTANCE BASED UPON LINE STRENGTH. 9.DURING EXCAVATION AND PLACEMENT OF UTILITIES, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL COMPLY WITH ALL APPLICABLE SAFETY REGULATIONS AND SHALL SUBMIT TO THE ENGINEER FOR REVIEW SHEET PILING, SHORING, AND / OR BRACING DESIGNS PREPARED BY A REGISTERED PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER IN THE STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA, AS MAY BE NECESSARY TO COMPLY WITH THESE REGULATIONS. 10.ALL CONSTRUCTION SHALL CONFORM TO CURRENT CITY OF RALEIGH REQUIREMENTS, STANDARDS, AND SPECIFICATIONS, OR TO CURRENT NORTH CAROLINA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION REQUIREMENTS WHERE CITY REQUIREMENTS, STANDARDS, AND SPECIFICATIONS DO NOT EXIST OR DO NOT APPLY . 11.DISCHARGE FROM ALL DEWATERING AND PUMPING OPERATIONS SHALL BE DISCHARGED TO AN ENVIRONMENTALLY ACCEPTABLE LOCATION IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS, AND ALL APPLICABLE LOCAL, STATE, AND FEDERAL REQUIREMENTS. 12.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL REMOVE AND DISPOSE OF ALL DEBRIS GENERATED DURING THE PROJECT AT AN OFFSITE AND PROPERLY PERMITTED DISPOSAL FACILITY. 13.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO SAVE AND MAINTAIN ALL PROPERTY IRONS, MONUMENTS, OTHER PERMANENT POINTS AND LINES OF REFERENCE AND CONSTRUCTION STAKES. A NORTH CAROLINA REGISTERED LAND SURVEYOR, AT THE CONTRACTOR'S EXPENSE, SHALL REPLACE PROPERTY IRONS, MONUMENTS, AND OTHER PERMANENT POINTS OF REFERENCE. 14.THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR DETERMINING TEMPORARY SHORING NEEDS. SHORING PLANS SHALL BE PREPARED BY A NORTH CAROLINA REGISTERED PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER AND SUBMITTED TO THE ENGINEER. RIGHT-OF-WAY OBSTRUCTION NOTES: 1.LANE AND SIDEWALK CLOSURES OR DETOURS: PRIOR TO ANY LANE OR SIDEWALK OBSTRUCTION, THE CONTRACTOR OR ENGINEER SHALL SUBMIT A TRAFFIC CONTROL AND/OR PEDESTRIAN PLAN ALONG WITH A RIGHT-OF-WAY SERVICES APPLICATION TO REQUEST THE OBSTRUCTION PRIOR TO THE START OF WORK. EXISTING AND ALTERNATIVE PEDESTRIAN ROUTES DURING CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE REQUIRED TO BE COMPLIANT WITH THE PUBLIC RIGHTS OF WAY ACCESSIBILITY GUIDELINES (PROWAG), THE ADA STANDARDS FOR ACCESSIBLE DESIGN AND THE MANUAL ON UNIFORM TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES (MUTCD). 5.PRIOR TO THE START OF WORK, THE CLIENT SHALL SCHEDULE A PRE-CONSTRUCTION MEETING WITH THE ENGINEERING INSPECTIONS COORDINATOR TO REVIEW THE SPECIFIC COMPONENTS OF THE APPROVED PLAN, AND ENSURE ALL PERMITS ARE ISSUED. 6.ALL PERMITS MUST BE AVAILABLE AND VISIBLE ON SITE DURING THE OPERATION.
