SUMMARY OF HISTORIC ARCHITECTUIZ: ANll LAlvllscAYs t:Vt:w Description of review activities, results. and conclusions: HPOWeb reviewed on 1 December 2014 and yielded no NR, SL, LD, DE, or SS properties in the Area of Potential Effects (APE). Davidson County current GIS mapping, aerial photography, and tax information indicated a mostly wooded APE with built resources dating from the 1920s to the first decade of the twenty-first century (viewed 1 December 2014). The APE intersects parcels to the SW, NE and SE of the existing bridge on which stand, respectively, a circa-1932 house and barn, a circa-1925 house and later outbuildings, and a circa 1950 house, all located approximately 360 feet and more from the bridge and 60 feet and more from the SR 1844 (Old Greensboro Street Ext.) centerline, beyond likely project impact. All are unexceptional examples of their types. Constructed in 1922, Bridge No. 410 (identified as the Leonards Creek Bridge" on its plaque) is a 157-foot-long, three-span, reinforced-concrete, tee-beam bridge and is not eligible for the National Register according to the NCDOT Historic Bridge Survey as it is not historically, architecturally, or technologically significant. Google Maps Street View" confirmed the absence of critical historic structures and landscapes in the APE (viewed 1 December 2014). No architectural survey is required for the project as currently defined. Whv the available inforrriation proviles a reliable basis for reresonablv nredictin that there are no unidentiel sinicant historic architectural or lanlscape resources in the proiect nre: APE extends 300 feet from either end of the existing bridge (W-E) and 100 feet to either side of the SR 1844 (Old Greensboro Street Ext.) centerline (N-S) to encompass proposed construction activities. The comprehensive county architectural survey (1981) and later investigations recorded no properties in the APE (Paul B. Touart, Building the Backcountry.• The Architectural History ofDavidson County, North Caro/ina ([Lexington, NC]: The Davidson County Historical Association, 1987)). County GIS/tax materials and other visuals clearly illustrate the absence of significant architectural resources. No National Register-listed properties are located within the APE. Should the design of the project change, please notify NCDOT Historic Architecture as additional review may be necessary.
