Let me know if you need to add anything more or if you have different recollections. Steve, feel free to weigh-in with your observations. We reviewed several areas where sediment overwhelmed erosion control measures during recent storm events. All sediment loss sites reviewed were restored and EC measures repaired. Just as a reminder, permit violations including sediment losses must be reported to DWR within 24 hours of discovery. R-2915D • Site 6. We reviewed the outlet to determine if there was a need for the rock cross vane as shown on the plans. DOT staff thought that it would be blown out during subsequent storm events. We (DWR and Corps) requested that DOT consult with hydraulics in Raleigh to determine a course of action as to whether or not to beef up the cross vane, eliminate it altogether, install something else in its place, or some other alternative. We agreed that more bank stabilization needs to be installed along the outside meander. DOT was to get back with us (DWR and Corps) after consultations with hydraulics to discuss the next move. R-2915C • Sites 1, 4, 5, 7, 8. There were no notable issues. • Site 13A. We reviewed the existing culvert and boring operation for new metal pipes. The new metal pipes and sills have not been installed yet. • Site 10. We reviewed upstream, off-site stream impacts and repairs due to the upland waste site. The channel was in good condition. The permanent pipe was not installed yet. • Miller Waste Pit. We reviewed temporary wetland and stream impacts below the two large EC skimmer basins. We agreed that the a stream and wetland restoration plan would be needed. • Site 16. The trout moratorium may need to be waived so that construction of the box culvert can proceed without delays. A decision will be made some time in the future as the project progresses. • Site 6. No issues other than the Fire Department added a pipe extension at the outlet under their own separate permit.
