Pursuant to the variance request received June 28, 2018 from Kimsey -Horn & Associates, Inc. on behalf of the applicant, the Division will grant the variance request for the pump station to serve the subject facility with the following special conditions incorporated into the permit: 1. In accordance with the provision for alternative design covered under 15A NCAC 02T.0105(n), the usage of a simplex grinder pump station in lieu of a duplex pump station at the Oak Island Landing Shopping Center -- Harris Teeter Fuel commercial facility is allowed per the submitted documentation, and is exempt from the following: a. Requirement to install power reliability per 15A NCAC 02T.0305 (h)(1)(B&C). b. Requirement to installJmaintain atelemetry system per 15A NCAC 02T.0305(h)(1)(E). 2. Per the submitted documentation, the pump station shall: a. Provide a minimum of 24-hours' worth of storage within the wet well above the "pump - on" elevation, per 15A NCAC 02T.0305(h)(1)(D). b. Install/Maintain audible and visual alarms in an area that is noticeable to the general public and/or onsite staff, per 15A NCAC 02T.0305 (h)(1)(F). C. Install/Maintain emergency contact signage, per 15A NCAC 02T.0305(h)(2). Regardless of the variance approval, in the event that the wastewater collection facilities fail to perform satisfactorily, including the creation of nuisance conditions, the Permittee shall take immediate corrective action, including those as may be required by this Division, such as the construction of additional or replacement facilities.
