There is one previously recorded historic archaeological site, 31BN472, located at or near US 74 on the project 
tract.  The site was the former location of the Joseph Sales log house.   The chimney fall for the former house was 
identified in 1990 by archaeologists for NCDOT in association with the widening of US 74.  The site was determined to be 
ineligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places because there were no remaining intact deposits, and 
thus it may have been destroyed during road construction.  Beyond the area immediately adjacent to US 74, the 
remainder of the tract has not been surveyed to determine if archaeological resources are present.

Good afternoon, I hope you’re doing well on this blustery day! 
I just left you a voicemail in regards to a project that I am working on – we’re helping a developer with a PCN and as part 
of that process I was reaching out to you to see if there are any known archeological resources within the project 
confines or vicinity.  I have attached a map showing the property in context (USGS Quad map base, Oteen Quad) and 
also provided a Lat/Long for the property centroid.  Please let me know if you require any other information from me or 
if you’d like to discuss.  I’ll be in the office for the remainder of today and then on and off Tuesday/Wednesday, back in
