As much as five (5) inches had fallen within a few hours on Friday and it has had a disastrous effect on the project. In short, the side of Mill Race Pond (immediately adjacent to Bridge 126) within and beyond the project area failed and was washed away, thereby draining the pond. Mill Race now courses through the project area, threatening the recently placed end bent for the proposed onsite detour bridge. In addition, the work area is completely flooded including the location of the other end bents (forms were in place and concrete was to be poured today). Both Mill Race and the Haw River are currently flooded and overtopping (or nearly overtopping) their banks. The following picture series will demonstrate the existing site conditions. Please see the permit drawing (attached) for the numerical locations of where the pictures were taken. _ ,; : - • , , .
