The purpose of this extension was to allow the Town additional time to select and implement a permanent wastewater disposal option for the School. An email, dated April 18, 2018, from Ms. Deborah Bradley implied the Town was looking to apply for a subsurface system with the local health department. As of August 8, 2018, the ARO has not received any additional information regarding the Town’s current plans and progress towards a permanent solution. The ARO is requesting an update on the planned path forward and projected timeline for completion. Under Section C.2 of the Standard Conditions for NPDES Permits, the Town is required to properly operate and maintain all facilities and systems of treatment control. As a reminder, the current Temporary Pump & Haul Permit (WQ0039918) expires October 12, 2018. Once this extension expires, the Town will be pumping domestic wastewater without a valid non-discharge permit in violation of 15 NCAC 02T.0204 and bypassing the treatment facility in violation of Part II Section C.4(c) of the Standard Conditions for NPDES Permits. Please respond, in writing (email is acceptable), within 10 business days following receipt of this letter. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me (landon.davidson@ncdenr.gov) or Mikal Willmer (mikal.willmer@ncdenr.gov) at 828-296-4500. Sincerely, G.
