This inspection included verification of both the connection to the City of Statesville's sanitary sewer system and the status of the cleaning operations on the wastewater treatment facility. Once all wastewater (including solids) are removed from the treatment facility, a request can be made to the Division to rescind the NPDES Permit. A large stump had lodged up against the sewer pipe due to the elevated creek levels from the recent rainfall events. Facility staff should periodically inspect this piping system (especially after rainfall events) and remove any large objects that have accumulated up against this section of pipe. Only a separate compartment attached to the aeration basin (equipped with a mixer) and the small tank housing the dechlorination unit are left to be cleaned out. The influent pipe for the aerated surge tank/bar screen and effluent pipe have been sealed via concrete. See "Summary" Section for additional comments.
