Hi Dave,
Attached are the pertinent reports I can find about CMA with regard to aquatic toxicity. Much of this data is old
because CMA is a product that has been on the market for over 25 years. But it is made in the same plant as it was
originally, via the same process, and using the same raw materials. So while the reports may be old, they are still
useful.
You may run across references to "Ice-B-Gon" as a brand name. This was the name that was used for CMA when
Chevron sold it before Cryotech bought the plant, patents, rights, etc. A lot of the initial toxicity work was done under
that name. Ice-B-Gon and Cryotech CMA are the same product. We just renamed it.
Notes about the attached that may help you from having to wade through a lot of information:
• CMA PNS Biomonitoring test results — this is a lab report with results from Pimephales promelas &
Ceriodaphnia dubia.
• Enuironmental Impact and Toxicological Characteristics of CMA, Chptr 5 Blue Book — this is an excerpt from
a book which is a compendium of papers called Chemical Deicers and the Environment. Pg 2ii-2i� have some
aquatic toxicity information you may find relevant.
• Calcium Magnesium Acetate De-Icing Agent New Zealand Transport Agency — This is a more recent paper
that followed a decade-long real-world environmental analysis of CMA's use in New Zealand. The NZTA uses
CMA exclusively in environmentally sensitive areas and published their findings. Section 9.3 is the section
about Aquatic fauna.
