HomeMy WebLinkAbout20080868 Ver 2_C1- Salinity Notes 2017_20180629Appendix C Notes on 2017 Salinity Data Figures Salinity and depth graphs depict measurements recorded every 1.5 hours. Data from each Aqua TROLL was retrieved bi-weekly. Based on a recording interval of every 1.5 hours, each Aqua TROLL would have theoretically collected 5,840 readings during 2017 (16 per day). Data points deleted during 2017 analysis were based on one of the following categories: Insufficient Water — Water levels less than 3.0 inches above the depth sensor result in inaccurate salinity readings due to the conductivity sensor not being completely submerged (per In -Situ, Inc.). When Aqua TROLL recorded water depth below 3.0 inches, salinity and depth data were deleted because there was insufficient water for accurate salinity readings. Zero depth gaps not otherwise explained within a text box may also indicate times when wind pushes water below the Aqua TROLL probe level. Equipment Malfunction — Data removed or missing as a result of malfunctioning equipment or unexplainable spikes in salinity. Servicing Error — Data missing as a result of servicing error during 2017 was related to the user/servicer setting up a log file incorrectly. Other — Refers to data missing as a result of the instrument taking a scheduled measurement during servicing/downloading. C-1
