This permit, issued on is subject to compliance with the application (where consistent
with the permit), all applicable regulations, special conditions and notes set forth below. Any violation of these terns may subject
permittee to a fine, imprisonment or civil action; or may cause the permit to be null and void.
(1) The bulkhead will be constructed on an alignment connecting the two adjacent
bulkheads, as indicated by plan view plat dated 1/10/86.
(2) All backfill material will be obtained from a high ground source and confined
behind the permitted bulkhead.
(3) All fill material to be placed below normal water level will be confined
behind the permitted bulkhead.
(4) The activity will be conducted in such a manner as to prevent significant
increases in turbidity outside the area of construction or construction-related
discharge.
NOTE: Future development on the permittee's property may require a modification
of this permit. Contact a representative of the Division of Coastal
Management at 338-1558 for this determination prior to commencement
of any such activity.
NOTE: The proposed project is certified under General Water Quality Certification
No. 1272 issued on November 10, 1978, for bulkhead construction.
(See attached sheet for Additional Conditions
This permit action may be appealed by the permittee
or other qualified persons within twenty (20) days of the
issuing date. An appeal requires resolution prior to work
initiation or continuance, as the case may be.
This permit must be accessible on-site to Department
personnel when the project is inspected for compliance.
Any maintenance work or project modification
not covered hereunder requires further Departmental
approval.
All work must cease when the permit expires on
December 31, 1989
In issuing this permit, the State of North Carolina
agrees that your project is consistent with the North
Carolina Coastal Management Program.

SITE DESCRIPTION
The applicant's property is located in Colington Harbour Subdivision on
Juniper Court, Lot 4, Section T, on a man made canal on the Albemarle Sound.
The lot is currently undeveloped with an existing deteriorated asbestos style
bulkhead with concrete cap. The lot is approximately + 4 feet above NWL, with
a sandy loam soil.
The applicant proposes to construct a new wooden bulkhead approximately 2
feet water ward of the existing deteriorated bulkhead. The proposed bulkhead
alignment is approximately an average of 4' waterward of NWL, with the maximum
distance being 6' beyond. The proposed bulkhead is approximately 40' in total
length.
. The project as proposed would result in the filling of approximately 160
square feet below NWL, resulting in approximately 17.7 cubic yards of fill being
required. The proposed project will result in increased levels of trubidity during
construction, however, these effects should be short termed and localized.
