Purpose of site visit was to look at wetland areas, particularly wetlands B and D, given the gauge data. Did
not look at the streams very much.
Project was at Year 5 and closeout but was delayed because of gauge data. Year 1 gauges, only a few
gauges were working properly, remaining data from year 2 thru 5 was spotty in areas B and D.
Performance criteria was 5% unfortunately.
Looked at area D first, soils around G5 looked good. hydro data positive for 2 of five years, went to G3
where hydro data not as good, soil core on the way showed soils not as hydric, and when at G3 soils were
similar, chroma 3-4 and little to no redox, whereas at G5 had chroma 2 and redox.
Then walked to area C around G35 (which had good hydro data- and veg was very different, alot of juncus
and willow as compared to poor soil areas with goldenrod, solidago, sp.) to compare soils with some in
area B. Crossed stream (was a priority 2 through wetland area so likely had a drainage effect on some of
the wetlands) to look at soils around G24, these soils were similar to poorer areas of D, chroma 3/4.
Suggested after they review year 6 data, go out to site and use hydro, veg and soil characteristics to derive
final wetland boundaries.
