Dear Mr. Becker:
On June 14, 2018, Cheng Zhang of the Raleigh Regional (RRO) Office Division of Water Quality
conducted a-Compliance Evaluation Inspection of the subject facility. The assistance and cooperation
from Mr. Jackie Jackson, the Regional Supervisor, were very helpful and appreciated. A checklist of
items is enclosed with this letter. During the inspection, the following items were noted:
1.) Aqua North Carolina holds a deemed sewer collection system permit at The Legacy at Jordan
Lake in Chatham County. There have been no reportable sanitary sewage overflow (SSO)
incidents from the collection system, since the last inspection in November 2015.
2.) The collection system is comprised of low pressure force mains. Each house has a grinder pump that
pumps wastewater into the low pressure force mains and sent to the wastewater treatment plant on
site. The MII Homes site is under construction at the time of inspection. The new M/I Homes
subdivision has gravity sewer, force main, and one duplex pump station.
3.) The collection system map(s) are the "as-built" sewer plans for the subdivision. These plans depict
all of the required map components. Please update the map when the new construction is
completed.
4.) Aqua North Carolina has developed and implemented a company-wide Spill Response Action Plan.
5.) Grease educational materials are sent to all customers with bills quarterly.
