Chatham WRF Collection System
WQCSD0181
Chatham County
Dear Mr.Becker,
Rick Trone of the Raleigh Regional Office conducted a compliance evaluation inspection on June 21, 2018.The
assistance of Mr. Ronaldo Albertie and Mr.Jackie Jackson was appreciated. Please find the attached Basin-wide
Information Management System(BIMS)inspection checklist summarizing the inspection. Findings during the
inspection were as follows:
WQCSD0181 Chatham WRF Collection System Compliance Inspection Evaluation:
1. All wastewater flow is conveyed to and treated at the Chatham WRF wastewater treatment plant
(NC0056413).
2. The Chatham WRF collection system has 6 duplex pump stations: Governors Forest,Carolina Meadows 1,
Carolina Meadows 2, Food Lion, Governors Park 1, and Governors Park 2—all of which have secured
access,operational.audible/visible alarms,telemetry,and emergency contact information signs.All alarms
operated when the high-water float was lifted, and telemetry was operational. All wet well's exhibited little
to moderate waste build-up. Four pump stations are connected to on-site generators which are checked
weekly and exercised.Generators operated during the inspection.Governors Park 1 and 2 pump stations do
not have on-site generators but are equipped for quick-connect to a portable generator stored off-site. Per
Mr. Albertie and corresponding logbooks, all pump stations are inspected weekly.
3. On April 20,2018 Aqua North Carolina,Inc. stated the gravity system is currently owned by the developer
of the Carolina Meadows facility.
4. A map of the collection system was unavailable for review during the inspection. The map should include
pipe location, flow direction number of service taps, and pump stations. The map should also include pipe
sizes, pipe materials, and approximate pipe age. Please provide this office with a current collection
system map to include all information required by the permit.
5. The Chatham WRF collection system uses the company's standard educational material for their Fats,Oils,
and Grease Program.According to Mr.Jackson, material is distributed to users quarterly.
