Aid No: BRZ-2143(002) Funding: State X Federal Federal X Yes No Permit NWP 3 Or NWP 14 Permit s : Ty e(s : ProiectDescription: ReplaCe Bridge No. 216 on SR 2143 (Old Route 22/Beulahtown Road over Little Buffalo Creek off-site detour, no im rovements lanned . SUMMARY OF HISTORIC ARCHITECTURE AND LANDSCAPES REVIEW DESCRIPTIONOFREVIEWACTIVITIES,RESULTS,ANDCONCLUSIONS: HPOWeb reviewed on 24 February 2016 and yielded no NR, SL, LD, DE, or SS properties in the Area of Potential Effects (APE). Johnston County current GIS mapping, aerial photography, and tax information indicated a predominantly wooded APE (viewed 24 February 2016). The APE intersects a large parcel to the NW of the existing bridge on which are several 1940s-1960s residential and agricultural resources standing approximately 500 feet and more west and 160 feet and more north of the SR 2143 (Old Route 22/Beulahtown Road) centerline and well beyond likely project impact. Constructed in 1958, Bridge No. 216 is not eligible for the National Register according to the NCDOT Historic Bridge Survey as it is neither aesthetically nor technologically significant. No architectural survey is required for the project as currently defined. WHY THE A VAILABLE INFORMATION PROVIDES A RELIABLE BASIS FOR REASONABLY PREDICTING THAT THERE ARE NO UNIDENTIFIED SIGNIFICANT HISTORIC ARCHITECT(IRAL OR LANDSCAPE RESODRCES IN THEPROJECTAREA: APE extends 400 feet from either end of the existing bridge (E-W) and 150 feet to either side of the SR 2143 (Old Route 22/Beulahtown Road) centerline (N-S) to encompass proposed construction activities. The comprehensive county architectural survey and update (1980; 2003-2004), as well as later studies, record no resources in the APE. No National Register-listed or —eligible properties are located in the APE. Google Maps Street View" and other graphics confirm the absence of architectural and landscape resources in the APE subject to GS 121-12(a) or Section 106 compliance. Should any aspect of the project design change, please notify NCDOT Historic Architecture as additional review mav be necessarv.
