Closeout site visit -
Started on R1 walking up through wetlands and downstream, entered around photo point 10 as on CO
report.
Wetlands- veg looked pretty good, definite pattern of more trees, taller, in areas outside of old ditches. Old
ditches lines showed better soil characteristics, more chroma 3 as compared to the more forested areas.
Most soil cores showed some indicators and redox development.
R1 walking downstream from PP 10 near a structure noted all the areas brought out by DMS regarding
bank erosion. They typically noted erosion only on stream left bank. there was some erosion on right bank
but not excessive.
I estimated a little more on R1 than DMS. Maybe another 100-150 If.
Walked in stream to below Swan Road Bridge, for another 1500 feet or so. Then climbed up onto
floodplain to look at soils for the wetlands near gauges 24-26 and 28. Did not see alot of difference in soils
as per the gauges.
Did not look up Fifth Creek, although did see a large erosional area as depicted on the site map.
Fifth Creek below confluence with R1 or Beaver Creek did not show as much erosional areas.
The main discussion was whether the stream channel deserved a E2 ratio of 2:1. Most of the erosional
areas were on Beaver Creek, R1 or Fifth Creek above the confluence. IRT decided after some deliberation
that R1 should be a E2 reach at 2.5-1, which resulted on approximately 500 stream credit loss.
