REGAN Secretary WILLIAM E.(TOBY) VINSON Interim Director On June 20, 2018, Brian Lambe from the Wilmington Regional Office of the Division of Energy, Mineral, and Land Resources (DEMLR), conducted a compliance evaluation inspection for American Fish Company and Metal Works Oak Island located in Old Bridge Road, Brunswick County, North Carolina. The site drains to the Intracoastal Waterway, which is currently classified as Class SA, HQW Waters in the Cape Fear River Basin. The following observations were noted during the DEMLR inspection (please see the attached addendum for additional information about your permit): 1) Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SPPP) A Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SPPP) has been developed, recorded, and properly implemented. Yes ❑ No ■ Immediately develop a stormwater pollution prevention plan. 2) Qualitative Monitoring Qualitative monitoring has been conducted and recorded in accordance with permit requirements. Yes ❑ No ■ Immediately begin sampling protocols per permit requirements. 3) Analytical Monitoring Analytical monitoring has been conducted and recorded in accordance with permit requirements. Yes ❑ No ■ Immediately begin sampling protocols per permit requirements Other Observations: The boatyard has a lot of potential pollutant sources laid about the yard. No tarps were being used under the boats for collection of pollutants. Potential exists for wastewater discharge. Thank you for your assistance and cooperation during this inspection. Willis noted in her notes that monitoring was due by March 31; 2013. The stormwater pollution prevention plan (SWPPP) was to be developed a year from reciept of the notice. Willis noted in the inspection report that time was spent educating Mr. Charles Perry on the requirements of the permit. The site may have non permitted wastewater discharges from pressure washing. The inspector talked with some of the mechanics on site, but Mr. Perry was not on site. No tarps were observed under the boats. Site needs evaluation of potential pollutants with the with amount of extraneous items around the yard.
