We have asked our Environmental Sciences Branch to review this document and asked them to try to get back
to us by June 15. This is a very busy time of year for them so I'm not sure if they'll meet that deadline. As
soon as we've heard back from them we'll send you some official comments.

Good morning,
On behalf of Duke Energy, HDR is submitting the attached Cedar Cliff Spillway Upgrade Project - Water Quality
Monitoring Plan to address potential water quality concerns related to the proposed activities for the Cedar Cliff Auxiliary
Spillway Upgrade Project as discussed during the February 8, 2018 project status update meeting and subsequent
agency comments. We would appreciate your review of the monitoring plan and comments by June 15, 2018 as Duke
Energy wishes to conduct 12 -months of pre -construction monitoring beginning in July 2018. Monthly monitoring -will
continue throughout the duration of the anticipated project construction, which has a tentative completion date of
December 2020. Duke Energy will host interim meetings with the environmental regulatory agency representatives
included on this email to discuss water quality monitoring results on a quarterly basis during construction unless trends or
changes in water quality warrant additional discussion. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have questions
prior to the conference call scheduled on June 11tH
