Code of Federal Regulations (40 CFR 403.11(b)(1)(B)) and (40 CFR 403.11(e)) requires the publication of
Pretreatment Program Approval Requests and Approvals, respectively, in the largest daily newspaper
circulated in the municipality in which the Publicly Owned Treatment Works is located.
Please publish the attached Public Notice in your paper one time on or before June 26, 1998. Within ten days
following publication please send three copies of your invoice and three copies of an affidavit of publication
to the following address:

Notice of Request for Approval of a Pretreatment Program Submission
and Notice of Approval of a Pretreatment Program
The North Carolina Environmental Management Commission has received from the Town of Pittsboro a
request for approval of their Pretreatment Program Submissions. The Pretreatment Program is designed to
protect the publicly owned wastewater treatment works and its receiving environments from the detrimental
impacts of nondomestic users, including industrial users. The submittals have been reviewed and found to be
in compliance with pretreatment rules and regulations, 40 CFR 403 - Federal and 15A NCAC 2H .0900 -
State. On or before July 31, 1998, the North Carolina Environmental Management Commission plans to
approve the Town of Pittsboro's Pretreatment Program. At that time, the Division of Water Quality will
modify the Town of Pittsboro's NPDES Permit # NC0020354 to require the implementation of the submitted
Pretreatment Program. -
Copies of the submittals and supporting information may be inspected during normal business hours at NC
DWQ Pretreatment Offices, 7th Floor, Archdale Building, Raleigh, 919/733-5083, ext. 523.
Persons wishing to comment on the proposed Pretreatment Program are invited to send their comments to the
above address no later than July 24, 1998. All comments received prior to this date will be considered in the
formulation of final determinations regarding the proposed Pretreatment Program.
