Subject: Pretreatment Unit Review of Pretreatment Program Development

Dear Mr. Poteat:
This letter is to follow up on our meeting yesterday as well as general review of the status of development of
the POTW's Pretreatment Program. The following milestone dates were established for submittal of the final
items required for program development. Please refer to the Comprehensive Guide for North Carolina
Pretreatment Programs for assistance.
1. June - September, 1998: Conduct remaining Short Tenn Monitoring Plan (STMP) data as
discussed during the meeting, plus add total nitrogen to the influent and effluent location.
Maintain data summary spreadsheet. (Comprehensive Guide, Ch. 4)
2. August 1, 1998: Inspect Hydro Tube South and submit a completed Industrial User
Inspection form. (Comprehensive Guide, Ch. 7)
3. August 1,1998: Submit a draft Industrial User Pretreatment Permit (IUP) for Hydro Tube
South. The expiration date of the IUP must be June 30, 2002 or earlier. (Comprehensive
Guide, Ch. 6)
4. September 1,1998: Issue Division approved Industrial User Pretreatment Permit (IUP) to
Hydro Tube South with an expiration date of June 30, 2002 or earlier. (Comprehensive
Guide, Ch. 6)
5. September 30,1998: Submit a summary of Industrial Waste Survey (IWS) (Comprehensive
Guide, Ch. 3). Provide information on industries as discussed during the meeting.
6. October 14,1998: Attend meeting to conduct new Headworks Analysis (HWA) based on
monitoring data to the Division (Comprehensive Guide, Ch. 5). Bring all available STMP
and SIU data in spreadsheet format.
7. March 1,1999: Report on compliance status of all Significant Industrial Users (SIUs) due
to the Division for the reporting period of July 1, 1998 through December 31, 1998.
Response to this letter is required by the schedule outlined above.
