Subject: Pretreatment Review of Default Headworks Analysis (HWA)
Town of Pittsboro WWTP (NPDES # NC0020354)
Chatham County
Dear Mr. Poteat:
Melanie Bryson of the Division of Water Quality's Pretreatment Unit met with you on July 15, 1997, in
Raleigh to complete the Town of Pittsboro's default Headworks Analysis (HWA). Additional information was
received by the Division on July 30, 1997.
The Division concurs with your HWA calculations for all pollutants of concern. These approved Maximum
Allowable Headworks Loadings (MARL), Maximum Allowable Industrial Loadings (MAIL), and the basis
for these values are found on the last page of the enclosed HWA spreadsheet. The results of your headworks
analysis are also listed in the bottom section of your enclosed Allocation Table.
The following observations were also noted during the review of your HWA:
1. Default Data: This HWA is based on mostly default or literature values. Therefore, this HWA
will only be considered valid for twelve months. The HWA must be updated using STMP data
and submitted to the Division by June 1, 1998. Pretreatment permits must also have effective
periods to coincide with the updated HWA.
you for your cooperation`with th&Pretrredtment Program: If you -have any questions -or concerns; please -
feel
feel free to call me at (919) 733-5083 (ext. 595).
Sincerely,
Melan FTT
