I also represent Five Eagles Partners which is the owner of a tract of land which borders on some of the property on which Martin-Marietta has a mining lease. The Five Eagles land lies east and downgradient from the mine site. My clients are extremely interested in Martin-Marietta's mining activities as those activities affect both the present and future uses of their properties. They submitted information to the North Carolina Division of Land Resources in connection with the renewal by Martin-Marietta of its State Mining Permit. This information was also provided to the Corps of Engineers Regulatory Field Office in connection with the wetlands issues. They request that the information be given due regard in considering the proposed mine expansion by Martin-Marietta. They request that if permits are issued, they are conditioned upon Martin-Marietta undertaking mitigation measures adequate to mitigate for any wetland losses or adverse hydrological effects from their mine. Thank you for the opportunity to comment on these applications. Sincerely, WESSELL & RANEY, L.L.P. W. A.
