Subject: Request Acceptance Letter for Compensatory Mitigation Credits
Replace Bridge No. 220 on SR 1351 (Matlock Creek Road) over Matlock
Creek
Macon County
WBS Element: 17BP.14.R.111
Dear Ms. Harmon:
The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is proposing to replace the
subject bridge. This proposal entails replacing the existing timber bridge with a 16'2" W
x 5' 1" H x 45.5' L aluminum box culvert with headwalls on existing location in Matlock
Creek (DWR Class: C).
Impacts to Waters of the United States
In order to replace the existing bridge structure, it will be necessary to impact waters of
the United States in the Little Tennessee River Basin (HUC 06010202). Specifically,
NCDOT is requesting compensatory mitigation for impacts to 461inear feet of cold water
stream at a 2:1 ratio.
