Hi Corey,
This afternoon, we submitted our erosion control plans to Matthew Gantt, per his request, for an informal review.
Because our project has been through several revisions thus far, he requested this informal review prior to us formally
submitting for Express Permitting. We believe that we have satisfied your comments that were included in your letter,
and we plan to being the permitting process within a week of the completion of Mr. Gantts review.
With that being said, we would like to request that your office allow us until June 29, 2018 to provide the information,
per your May 17, 2018 letter. Please confirm if this request is acceptable. Should anything change prior to the June 29
date, we will update you immediately.

Joe,
I double checked with my supervisor about the longitudinal slope requirements, and she confirmed that using
engineered matting to stabilize the channel should be fine. It’s not necessary to reduce the slope to 7%.

That's great. Thanks for the review.

With respect to the discharge, using this product in the swales along the road will allow us to keep the road
culverts as shown discharging directly to a dissipater pad, correct?...also, given the tightness of the site, can
we leave the swales with 2H:1V side slopes? 3H:1V on existing 2H:1V slopes makes it difficult to tie grades
back.
Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks

Good afternoon,
I looked at the link that you sent. As long as the channels are vegetated and engineering calculations show that there
will not be any erosion during the 10-year storm, a product like that would be acceptable to meet the regulations.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Thank you,

Mr. Anen,
We’ve reviewed the comments received for the substation and understand the issue of vegetated swales. We are
actually just improving an existing dirt road on site and creating the road side swale. The existing road grade is
approximately 23% - 25% and all slopes on the property are steeper than 3H:1V. Trying to reduce slope would be
impossible. In addition, the proximity of the existing “stream” on the left side of the access road makes it difficult to
create “dispersed” flow from the uphill side of the new road to the stream.

In order to meet the requirements of low density, would it be acceptable to line the channel with something like the
attached that would provide the necessary armoring we need for the steep channel but also provide a “vegetated”
swale?
Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you
