HomeMy WebLinkAbout20180794 Ver 1_Stormwater Management Plan_20180607  Calamar Independent Living Stormwater Management Plan City of Burlington, North Carolina Prepared for: Calamar Enterprises, Inc April, 2018  Purpose The purpose of this stormwater management study is to design a stormwater management facility for Calamar Independent Living residential development using the City of Burlington’s stormwater management regulations. Predeveloped Analysis The Predeveloped Drainage map shows the predeveloped watershed which is tributary to 30” culvert under Old St. Marks Church Road to the south of the property. This drainage area then drains to an unnamed channel which is tributary to Back Creek. This area contains 6.27 acres with a runoff curve number of 79 based on the existing land use. Time of concentration flow path is shown on the predeveloped drainage map and computed using TR-55 shown in Appendix 1. The resulting time of concentration is 17.4 minutes. A runoff curve number of 94 was calculated based on the proposed land use being 56.45% impervious area in predominately Group C type soils. Time of concentration is 7.2 minutes which comes from the storm sewer calculations. The allowable release rates for the 1, 10 and 100 year events are shown on the following table. The basin has been designed to pass these flows through the basin without overtopping. The basin also provides an emergency spillway in the case the permanent outlet fails. The resulting peak flow rates and water surface elevations are shown on the table below. Output from the Hydraflow model is provided in Appendix 1.
