Dear Mr. LaRowe:
On May 29, 2009,the Express Review Program of the Division of Water Quality(DWQ)received your
additional information for the subject project. The DWQ has determined that your application still
requires additional information. Please provide the following information so that we may continue to
review your project and prevent return of your application as required by 15A NCAC 2H .0506:
Additional Information Requested
1. Wet Pond 2 (Use of Floating Curtain as Flow Elongation Baffle):
Since the baffle would be permanently installed in the pond,the material must be durable and
strong, and should not wear out, deteriorate, fold or crumble with time. It should be rigidly fixed
and stable to allow the water to meander around it or flow through some open (cut)windows.
And lastly,the BMP Manual requires that the top elevation of the baffle should, at least, coincide
with the temporary pool elevation.
Please make sure that the baffle material and its installation meet the above criteria. In addition,
please provide a cross section of pond 2 along the longitudinal section of the baffle showing
detailed installation information such as anchors, connection seals and seams, bottom and top
elevations,etc. and revise any affected sheet(s)accordingly.
Please respond within five(5)days of the date of this letter by sending two (2) copies of the above
information and any revisions in writing. The Express Review Program is a process that requires all
parties to participate in a timely manner.
This letter only addresses the application review and does not authorize any impacts to wetlands,waters or
protected buffers. Please be aware that any impacts requested within your application are not authorized(at
this time)by the DWQ.
