Mike, After discussing this site with some other folks here in Raleigh, we’ve decided that the scrap metal general permit is the most appropriate way to go. I’ll add this email chain to Laserfiche and it will serve as a record that we conducted the site visit on May 30th. You don’t need to take any action on your end. I’ll work on issuing the COC and send you your copy when it’s done. I am not familiar with this site, but can plan to conduct a site visit and then respond back to you with more information. From: Anen, Steven C Sent: Monday, April 30, 2018 10:58 AM To: Lawyer, Mike <mike.lawyer@ncdenr.gov> Subject: Lee Iron & Metal Co. Hi Mike, We got a stormwater permit application for Lee Iron & Metal Co. for an NCG20 (scrap metal). Their site description says that they process and recycle scrap metal from a variety of sources, including vehicles. They drain the fluids from the vehicles and use a crusher on site. From the aerial it looks like most of the site is used to store vehicles, which gives me the sense that automobile wrecking is a majority of what happens onsite, in which case I think that the site would be better covered under and NCG10 permit for automobile wrecking. I was wondering if you or someone from your office may be familiar with the site or has maybe spoken to the applicant. The site is at 1085 Old US 421, Lillington in Harnett County and the permit number is NCG200519. If you could give me any info I would greatly appreciate it.
