HomeMy WebLinkAboutNCS000334_CMSWS Inspection Report_20171109Charlotte -Mecklenburg STORM WATER Services -- November 9, 2017 Michael Croke, Branch Manager Jones Chemicals Inc. 1500 Tarheel Road Charlotte, NC 28208 Subject: Industrial Facility Inspection Jones Chemicals Inc. 1500 Tarheel Road - Charlotte Dear Mr. Croke: 2145 Suttle Avenue Charlotte, NC 28208 On October 30, 2017, Ron Eubanks of Charlotte -Mecklenburg Storm Water Services (CMSWS) conducted an inspection of the above referenced facility as a requirement of the City of Charlotte's NPDES Permit, NCS000240, Part II Section H. Inspection authority is granted by Charlotte City Code Chapter 18, Article III, Section 18-82. At the time of inspection, the facility was observed to be in compliance with the City of Charlotte Stormwater Pollution Control Ordinance; the following recommendation is provided: 1) Charlotte Stormwater Pollution Control Ordinance Review • Structural stormwater BMPs — Rip rap has been installed at the stormwater outfall to filter sediment from stormwater runoff at the site. It is recommended that the excess sediment around the outfall be routinely cleaned up and properly disposed to keep the total suspended solids (TSS) levels below the Permit Benchmark. The inspection was also conducted as part of a cooperative working agreement between Mecklenburg County and the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ) — Division of Energy, Mineral and Land Resources (DEMLR). NCDEQ — DEMLR has been copied on this report and made aware of the following observations regarding the facility's NPDES stormwater permit: 2) Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SPPP) A Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SPPP) has been developed, recorded, and implemented for Jones Chemicals Inc. 3) Qualitative Monitoring Qualitative monitoring has been conducted and recorded semi-annually as required by NPDES Stormwater Permit NCS000334. 4) Analytical Monitoring Analytical monitoring has been conducted and recorded semi-annually as required by NPDES Stormwater Permit NCS000334. • obTo report pollution or drainage problems, call: 311 http://stormwater.charmeck.org CHARIATTF.a. . (JCI) is a distributor of chlorine gas. JCI provides chlorine gas products for the purification and treatment of water and wastewater systems, paper and textile manufacturing, food production, and pharmaceutical products. File Review/History: Stormwater inspections were conducted by Charlotte -Mecklenburg Storm Water Services (CMSWS) on March 26, 2009 and December 13, 2013. The previous inspection reports were issued as compliant. Inspection Summary: During the inspection on October 30, 2017, JCI was observed to be in compliance with the City of Charlotte Storm Water Pollution Control Ordinance and NPDES Individual Storm Water Permit NCS000334.
