Wellman Mine, Onslow County, NC
Dear Mr. Morton:
An application for a discharge permit for Wellman Mine (Morton Minerals, Inc) was received on April
23, 2018. Upon review of the application, it appears that the application is incomplete. In order to
proceed with our review of the application, the following information specific to Wellman Mine must
be submitted:
1. Wetland delineation certified by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (see Question 28 on
application form;
2. Completed wastewater treatment alternatives review (see Question 38 on application form);
3. Two copies of detailed full-size plans that show existing ditches, existing pond, pond outfall,
and accurate depiction of areas of undisturbed/disturbed buffers as they existed at the time of
application (see requirements under Final Checklist); and
4. Completed Final Checklist (see Page 10 of application form).
Please submit this information to the following address by June 30, 2018 so that we can proceed with
our review of the NPDES Stormwater permit application:
