During the visit, it was discovered that the silt fence that was thought to represent the wetland fill boundary near Site 13 was incorrectly located and extended into a jurisdictional wetland that was only approved for hand clearing and mechanized clearing (see attached picture). Because of the erroneous location of the silt fence, approximately 150 sf of fill has been placed in an area that was solely permitted for hand clearing and mechanized clearing (see attached plan drawings of Site 13 with enlarged drawing included). In order to remedy this situation, NCDOT is proposing to have the area properly re-staked utilizing a surveyor. Once staked, NCDOT proposes to remove all fill material improperly placed, restore the area to its original grade and seed the area with native wetland vegetation.
