Brief Summary: The Town of Belhaven expressed the benefits of leaving in the causeway. They stated that fishing is a primary source of income for the Town as well as food for many of the residents and requested that the causeway remain to be used as access for a future fishing pier. Issues: Environmental agencies that were present US Fish and Wildlife, NC Wildlife Resource Commission, NC Division of Water Quality, NC Division Coastal Management, & US Army Corp of Engineers all concurred with leaving in the existing causeway with their only concern that the current storm water drainage plan would affect vehicular access.
